This 1968 MG midget was more akin to half an MG Midget when it came to me; it had previously been 'restored' by a 'specialist', but was so bad that the owner searched for someone else to do the work properly! I could write a whole page about the restoration of this body shell, but hopefully these few pictures tell some of the story.
The shell received: new inner and outer sills, new foot well fronts and toe boards, front chassis 'triangles', complete inner and outer wheel arches, a complete floor, rear bulkhead panel and lots, lots more. Would it of been easier to get a new heritage shell??? Yes, but that's not what the owner wanted.
The owner had already agreed beforehand to have the car painted elsewhere, so I got the car to the rolling shell stage, and primed, stone-chipped and painted the underside.
I am currently rebuilding the engine as a modified 1330 fast road engine, and once the shell is painted, I will be building it all back up. Keep an eye on the blog for any news.
